How to stop the nightly dinner standoff

Only add dinners you'd be happy to eat

Every option on the list should be a win. Then it doesn't matter which one comes up, and the decision stops being a big deal.

Match the night, not just the craving

Busy Tuesday? Put quick, one-pan meals on the list. Slow Sunday? Add the dinner that takes a little longer. Choosing the options is the real decision, and the roll does the rest.

Check what's already in the fridge first

If the chicken needs to be used up, make sure a chicken dinner is one of the five. It keeps food from going to waste and takes the last-minute grocery run off the table.

Agree to accept the pick

The rule that makes a randomizer work is deciding beforehand that whatever it lands on is dinner. Re-rolling until you like the answer just brings the argument back.

Want this for your whole list?

The What's For Dinner app keeps all your dinners in one place, remembers what you cooked so it doesn't repeat, lets your household share a list and vote, and plans the week ahead.
